On 3rd November, 2009 at 1500 CET, The United Kingdom ceased to exist as a Sovereign Nation, when Czechoslovakia signed the Lisbon Treaty. The Sovereign Nations of Europe are now just part of the new European Union Empire. My father fought in a World War and my Grandfather was killed in one to prevent a day such as this.

Such a small little plant that I put in the ground, a bit late in the season. Now it is huge and a beautiful orange colour. I hope it lasts until nearer Halloween as I want to scoop out the middle and make pie or soup and use the rest for a scary face! I have never done that before and it will be very exciting to do it with a pumpkin we grew.

A glorious late summer day with warm sun and blue skies. Matt and I took advantage of our membership to Westonbirt Arboretum.
It was lovely as always and having been through one side of the Arboretum we stopped for a delicious lunch of carrot and coriander soup, and as we were going to walk some more indulged in coconut sponge with raspberry jam filling. Yum!

After a lovely lunch in a lovely eatery in Guildford (thanks Mark and Laura) we headed to Stoke Park (also in Guildford.) It has a pretty little flower garden to walk around, tennis courts, field/grass space, a lily pond, a remote controlled boat pond (it was getting a little familiar) and a paddling pool for kids (now amazingly familiar although different.) After a text conversation with my Mum, it transpires that she used to take me (and my sister) there when we were young!!
Memory lane was working in abundance and it was quite surreal to see Dex in the paddling pool when I remember playing in it (frighteningly) 30 years ago!!. Deep breath, onmygod 36 really isn't that old!!!
We had such a lovely weekend. Many thanks to Mark and Laura for their lovely hospitality (mark you make a mean spag bol) and to Dex for the entertainment!

We took Dex to Kew Gardens today. Laura and Mark had not been before. Matt and I really enjoy it and it has significance for us as Matt took me as a 'special date' for our first Valentines Day (we had only been together for 3 weeks!) He has his moments of romance!
The plant is the Titan Arum. Reminded me of the Triffids for those of you old enough to remember the TV series. If I had stood on the rim of the pot it would have been as tall as me. It was UGLY!
Dex loved Kew as it was directly in Heathrow's flight path. He completely bypassed his need for a nap as he was thoroughly distracted by 2 things. Aeroplanes and walking!
Dex practised his walking so much that he slept for approx 11 hours and all in his cot!
The picture on the right is just so cute I had to post it. There was a kissing game and Uncle Matt was favourite!
I love Kew. Matt and I always enjoy it, but we saw it in a different way with a small person and it was a fantastic experience. Thanks Dex!
